Damaging Wind & Hail Threat for Dakotas and Montana
Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Tuesday afternoon and continue into Tuesday night from Montana eastward into South Dakota and southern North Dakota.

Hot August days are upon residents of the central U.S. as temperatures pushed into the 90’s on Tuesday with some lower 100’s across Texas. More hot weather is expected on Wednesday as cities like Austin, Dallas and Oklahoma City push to around 100. Highs will be soaring into the mid to upper 90’s across Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. When you factor in the humidity it will feel even warmer with heat indices pushing into the upper 90’s and into the 100’s across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.
A cold front will bring some relief to the Northern Plains on Thursday but that wont help the 100’s expected across portions of Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The heat will also be spreading east working into the upper Midwest with highs in the low to mid 90’s across Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.

Tropical storm Javier has brought strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall to Baja California Sur on Monday, and tropical storm conditions are expected to continue into Tuesday.
As a cold front moves through the Northeast today, thunderstorms will ignite along and ahead of the front from Maine to Maryland.
A low risk of severe storms exists for several major cities including Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York. The best chance for severe storms will be in portions of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and southern New York. These storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, with a low risk of flash flooding.
In addition, much of eastern Maine has an elevated risk of severe storms. Wind gusts and small hail are possible with these storms.
