There are several traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving. There’s the travel, seeing loved ones, football (both professional and the backyard variety), and of course, don’t forget the turkey. But for millions of people, Thanksgiving Day starts by turning on the television to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
A cold front will be moving east across the Southern Plains this evening into the overnight. A combination of a mid level trough, surface instability, and nocturnal jet will trigger the potential for severe storms.
We’re not expecting any major headline-making storms to trouble your Thanksgiving festivities. However, a few different storm systems could create areas of mainly nuisance rain and snow for Thursday.
An intense winter storm is raging across Ontario, causing dangerous blizzard conditions and plunging temperatures. Expect this system to move east through Sunday and into early next week, leading to the first big lake effect snow event of the season.
