A nearly stationary weather pattern in the upper levels of the atmosphere will support yet another round of severe storms this afternoon across nearly the entire Great Plains and portions of the Upper Midwest.
Conditions are set up for severe weather across the Plains on Sunday, from the Mexican border to Canada.
Spotty strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to fire Saturday afternoon and evening along a dry line that extends from western Kansas through the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas, down into the Big Bend of the Rio Grande River.
A vigorous upper low will be spinning slowly across the Intermountain West through this weekend, leading to high winds. Gusts up to 55 mph will be common with some wind-prone areas seeing gusts as high as 65 mph, especially on Friday.
