*** SEVERE UPDATE *** Powerful Storms About to Develop over the Plains!

Expect severe storms to break out after 3-4 pm CDT from north-central Kansas into eastern Nebraska. These storms will spread both east and south through the evening hours. Destructive winds, very large hail, and isolated tornadoes will accompany the stronger cells.

Moderate instability will combine with strong upper level winds to create an environment suitable for severe storm growth. The question will be when the cold front moves in to light the powder keg. Right now it appears that this could happen about 4 pm or so CDT. The most dangerous time will be from mid-afternoon through the evening hours, when isolated tornadoes would be the most likely. We’re especially monitoring areas of southeast Nebraska into southwest and central Iowa, including the Omaha metro.

Updates will continue to be issued on Twitter and Facebook as necessary. Monitor your local emergency broadcast source if a severe storm or tornado watch is issued!
