A strong low pressure system tracking west to east across the Plains will spark severe storm development through early Monday. Limited moisture will mean isolated rather than widespread storm coverage. However, the storms that do develop could produce damaging winds and large hail.
The system in question is moving into an area with limited access to sources of moisture like the Gulf of Mexico. Nevertheless, by mid to late Sunday afternoon, upper level forcing will be enough to generate isolated storm development. Gusty winds to 65 mph and large hail to 1.5″ in diameter will accompany the stronger cells. The threat will cross the Missouri River this evening with storms diminishing early Monday morning.
