The potent storm system responsible for severe storms on Tuesday and Wednesday will cross the Mississippi River by Thursday afternoon. Another outbreak of severe storms is expected. Very large hail, tornadoes, and destructive winds will again be threats.
The ingredients are coming together for a significant severe storm outbreak affecting some major cities like Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee. Instability and wind shear will be sufficient to support numerous severe cells. These storms will produce very large hail up to three inches in diameter, destructive wind gusts to 75+ mph, and some tornadoes. Severe storms will likely form near the Mississippi River in the early to mid-afternoon hours. The squall line will shift east and approach Nashville in the early to mid-evening.
As always, we’ll be issuing updates on Twitter and Facebook as the event unfolds. Pay close attention to your local emergency broadcast sources, especially if a severe storm or tornado watch is issued.
