Severe Thunderstorm Threat for Texas and Oklahoma on Tuesday

After strong thunderstorms on Sunday for Oklahoma and northern Texas, severe weather returns Tuesday to the Southern Plains.

Tuesday’s Severe Storms

A new system moving in on Tuesday will provide plenty of fuel for severe weather Tuesday. Storms will stretch from Oklahoma down into south-central Texas beginning Tuesday afternoon. Several major cities are at an elevated risk for severe storms including Dallas-Fort Worth and Oklahoma City, while Austin, San Antonio and Tulsa remain at a low risk. North-central Texas and southern Oklahoma can expect the worst of the storms, including Abilene, Texas. The greatest risks with these storms will be large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Heavy rain will accompany storms particularly in eastern Oklahoma and northern Texas. Expect conditions to continue into the late evening hours, with the main threat transitioning to strong winds and heavy rain.
