A compact but powerful system will emerge over the Plains Sunday, sparking severe storm development from Texas to Kansas. Central Oklahoma will be ground zero starting mid-afternoon. Expect very large hail, potentially exceeding three inches in diameter, along with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
Cities like Tulsa, OK and Dallas, TX will stand a chance of seeing strong to marginally severe storms. However, the Oklahoma City metro is most likely to see dangerous severe storms later this afternoon. The environment is ripe for very large, destructive hail up to three inches or more in isolated cases. Damaging winds up to 70 mph and isolated tornadoes will also occur.
We’ll keep monitoring the situation as it unfolds and issue updates as needed across Twitter and Facebook.
