Ice isn’t the only weather affecting the Plains! Take a look at today’s severe weather threat through Texas and Oklahoma.
Abundant moisture and instability, combined with upper-atmosphere dynamic forcing, will aid in the development of some severe storms this afternoon and evening. Storms will initiate in west Texas ahead of a cold front and propagate northeast into north-central Texas and south-central Oklahoma by this evening. These severe storms will spawn from the same system creating hazardous icy conditions through northern Oklahoma and other locations through the Plains. Look for high wind gusts, large hail to 2 inches, and a few tornadoes to occur with these storms.
