A rapidly strengthening Nor’easter will bring snow, rain, and wind to New England from Thursday into Friday.
Nor’easter Details:
A disturbance bringing colder air from Canada will combine with moisture coming up from the south to spawn an area of low pressure near the Jersey shore on Thursday. The low pressure system will undergo a period of rapid intensification as it tracks northeast to southeastern Maine by Friday morning.
Consequently, rain and wind will batter coastal locations while a significant snow falls inland.
An area of light to moderate snow will spread across New York state and Pennsylvania Thursday morning with generally light accumulations expected. As the storm strengthens, a swath of heavy snow will break out from Massachusetts to Maine Thursday afternoon and night. For the major cities along the I-95 corridor from Washington D.C. to Boston, mainly rain is expected. Boston will see the most rain and wind out of the major cities, and there is a slight chance that the precipitation ends as a period of snow.
Northwest of the low track, a swath of over a foot of snow is expected from New Hampshire to Maine.
Travel delays are likely across interstates such as I-90, I-93, and I-95.
