We’re not expecting any major headline-making storms to trouble your Thanksgiving festivities. However, a few different storm systems could create areas of mainly nuisance rain and snow for Thursday.
A weak storm system will make its way into the Northeast and Appalachians. Light precipitation will be the rule, with a mix to snow expected over interior and northern sections of New England. Rain will dominate to the south, including the Urban Corridor. Amounts should be light with a low risk for flooding. Another relatively weak system will traverse the Rockies and Northern Plains, bringing a continued threat for periodic light snow showers, though any accumulations will be minimal in most spots (some of the Dakotas may pick up an inch or two).
Another, more potent storm will move into the coastal Pacific Northwest. Heavy rain could lead to localized minor flooding for areas west of the Cascades. The Cascades themselves will see hefty snow accumulations that could close the interstate passes for a time. Those spending the holiday at the ski resorts should be pleased, though.
