Initial rescue efforts in the region proved difficult with dozens of fallen trees and damaged buildings preventing access to emergency services. An ambulance was even struck by a falling tree in Ladispoli.
“There will be an extraordinary council to ask the region to implement a state of natural disaster, and thus support the rehabilitation and reconstruction of what was destroyed” said Ladispoli mayor Crescenzo Paliotta in interviews with local media.
