More Golf Ball Sized Hail For The Plains Today?

A storm system will provide an elevated severe weather risk today across the Plains.

A deep trough over the Rockies and a strong upper level jet will help will fuel severe storms for the Central Plains today. The greatest risk for storms will be along a warm front and ahead of a cold front stretching from western Oklahoma up through Iowa.

Thunderstorms will initiate after 2-3 PM CDT today and will track eastward into the evening. Hazards will include hail up to 2″ in diameter, wind gusts up to 70 mph, Isolated tornadoes, and localized flash flooding. Major cities at risk include Wichita, Kansas; Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri.
