Major Hurricane Matthew has passed east of Jamaica with mostly minimal impacts to the island. The center of the storm passed over the western tip of Haiti, bringing heavy rain, damaging wind, and destructive surf to that region.

Hurricane Matthew largely spared Jamaica of its worst impacts. Kingston, Jamaica’s capital city, saw maximum sustained winds of just 19 mph (17 kts) and rainfall of around 1 inch (25 mm).
