Over 1.5 million people have been left without power as a major storm event unfolds across much of South Australia. Up to 140km/h wind gusts are expected for parts of the state with heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding in some regions. Severe thunderstorms have also plagued the state in the last 24 hours with multiple reports of a tornado causing destructive damage across the Blyth region to the north of Adelaide.

The severe weather is expected push further east with damaging wind gusts, severe thunderstorms and flash flooding expected for parts of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
