Rain continues to fall across southern Texas and will not ease off until Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches will cause localized flash flooding.
Rainfall totals
After yesterday’s storms, over 4″ of rain fell in numerous areas of south central Texas, including the San Antonio and Laredo areas. At Stinson Municipal Airport, south of San Antonio, 7.14″ of rain fell, leading to major flooding for residents.
Impacts
Several major roads have closed throughout Texas, leading to a long morning commute for many Texans. In Laredo, I35 has been closed due to flooding.

Drivers in the affected areas should use extreme caution as flooded roads can be life threatening. Numerous water rescues have occurred as motorists attempt to drive through high waters.

Future Rainfall
As the moisture continues to pump into southern Texas, rain will continue with an additional 1-3 inches across the area. With the amount of rain that has already fallen, 3 day totals could reach up to 10″ of rain.
