A front stretching from Minnesota through Iowa will trigger a line of potentially severe storms this afternoon into the evening hours.
Portions of Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Northern Missouri can expect isolated storms this afternoon with a low risk for damaging wind gusts and hail. Severe storms have already begun in portions of Wisconsin and Iowa.
This line of storms will continue to progress to the southeast into the evening hours before weakening in Illinois. Currently, the Chicago area is not at risk while Milwaukee and Madison face the potential for severe weather.
These storms are capable of producing large hail and isolated damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph. However, a narrow area along the front could create conditions favorable for some isolated tornadoes.
Residents within the low risk area should monitor the weather closely as these storms can become dangerous.
