Beneficial Rain Expected For Parts Of The Eastern US

Beneficial rain is on the way across portions of the Northeast that are in a moderate to extreme drought. Mr. MORECAST looks at how much rain will fall and if it will help bring some drought relief.

A front continues to slowly move to the east. Along and ahead of the front, moisture will be pulled in from the Gulf of Mexico and Tropical Depression Julia. This will allow for bands of moderate to heavy rain to move up along the front. Several locations have already picked up anywhere between 1-3″ away from the I-95 corridor through Monday morning.

By Tuesday morning, an additional 1-2 “of rain will fall across parts of the I-95 corridor. There will be some variability as to areas receiving less or more rainfall.

Any rainfall is good news for the Northeast, as the region experiences a moderate to severe drought. Unfortunately, it will take a lot more rainfall to provide a full relief.
