UPDATE: Tropical Disturbance Julia Lingers Off the South Carolina Shore

Tropical disturbance Julia continues to weaken as the storm lingers off the coast of South Carolina.

Details:

As Julia continues to shift further away from land, threats to land will continue to diminish. Rain has significantly decreased but a chance remains for up to 1″ of rain for coastal North Carolina and South Carolina. The disturbance is not expected to strengthen as it stalls out off the Carolina coast.

The tropical storm brought heavy rains and strong winds to Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina as it moved north along the coast. Over 10″ of rain fell in some areas, bringing flooding conditions to many coastal residents. On September 13th, Julia became the first tropical storm on record to develop over land in Florida. Typically, tropical storms develop over water, where warm waters fuels the storm.
