With many cities experiencing above average to record breaking heat this summer, some cool relief is on the way for the Northeast and Midwest late this week into the Holiday Weekend.
Today a cold front will move through the region late in the day through early Thursday which will be accompanied with some showers and isolated thunderstorms. Behind the front, a ridge of high pressure will build which will lead to a cooler airmass to filter into the region, supplying cool temperatures. Friday will start the weekend off right with temperatures mostly in the mid 70s across much of the region with dew points in the 50s.
Saturday will be the driest of both days with dew points in the 40s and 50s. The low dew points will make it feel very cool, comfortable and a lot less sticky outside. Low to mid 80s will be seen along coastal and southern regions while temperatures stay mild in the 70s across most of the Northeast in upper Midwest.
