Severe End to the Week for the Plains

Severe potential for August 19

A cold front diving out of the Front Range will bring the potential for severe activity to a broad area to round out the work week Friday afternoon.

As a developing front plunges east from the Front Range, it will tap into increasing instability across a region ranging from the Texas Panhandle north to Wisconsin. Scattered thunderstorms are likely to spark off later this afternoon along the front. A few of these storms will fully tap into this energy bringing the potential for damaging winds and some small hail. The region with the best chance of seeing severe activity extends from the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles through Wichita and Omaha all the way to Des Moines.
