Sizzling heat is expected again on Friday and Saturday with more daily max temperature records in danger. The ridge of high pressure mainly responsible for the heat will start to break up Sunday, allowing temperatures to cool off somewhat heading into next week.
Medford, Oregon saw a new record high today of 108 degrees, and will likely be the big city hot spot again on Friday, but triple digit heat is expected throughout the Willamette Valley, including the Portland metro area. Friday (above) may be the warmest day, at least in the major urban centers, but Saturday temperatures (below) will still be well above normal. There will again be a sharp contrast in temperatures near the Pacific coast, with temperatures in the 60s along the immediate shore, climbing to the 90s or 100s just a few tens of miles inland.
Updates to this special forecast will be issued as needed through the next few days. Consult the MORECAST app for temperatures you can expect at your location!
