Damaging wind and hail for Upper Midwest

Strong storms are expected across portions of the Upper Midwest this afternoon and into the night hours. Wisconsin looks to bear the brunt of the action, with Milwaukee included in our “elevated” risk area.

Storms will kick off in northwest Wisconsin in the late afternoon and early evening, before progressing southeast. As storms increase in coverage, strong wind and hail will be possible along a band from Iowa to Upper Michigan.

Activity will likely reach all the way to Lake Michigan by late evening. Milwaukee will see impacts after 8pm, with Chicago a couple of hours later. By the time storms reach these metro areas, storms will likley be weakening, with widespread severe impacts increasingly unlikely with time.

Areas of northern Missouri, southern Iowa, and western Michigan may also see storms, though severe impacts will be unlikely.
