Scattered Severe Storms Across the Carolinas & Virginia Tuesday!

Watch for scattered strong to severe storms, accompanied by damaging wind gusts and a few hail stones, to move across the Carolinas & Virginia later today through this evening.

Storms will develop around midday or early afternoon on the lee side of the Appalachians and move east and southeast into warm, moist air dominating the Piedmont and coastal plain.  These storms will generally be capable of producing bursts of high winds, leading to toppled trees and scattered power outages.  Hail will be more isolated, but a few stones up to one inch in diameter are likely.  Storms will diminish as they move towards the coast this evening.

We’ll continue to issue updates as needed via Twitter and Facebook.
