Rain and thunderstorms in portions of the country could interrupt 4th of July plans and fireworks, while other regions remain dry and sunny. Mr. MORECAST has a look at your 4th of July outlook.
Unsettled weather in the Mississippi Valley will lead to thunderstorms and rain throughout Monday and will likely interrupt firework shows for a large portion of the area. Some of these thunderstorms could become severe, particularly from West Virginia to eastern Arkansas. The same system will extend into the Southeast, bringing a chance of isolated showers and storms in the afternoon.
Clouds and showers will inch northward through the mid-Atlantic on the 4th with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. at risk for some rain to dampen firework festivities. Farther north throughout most of the Northeast, conditions are expected to remain ideal for fireworks with dry weather, clear skies, and high temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
The Great Lakes region will see more sun across the northern tier and more clouds farther to the south closer to Chicago, Illinois with temperatures generally in the upper 70s to 80s.
Texas and the Southwest U.S. will be hot and mostly sunny, with temperatures in the mid 90s to low 100s. The West Coast will be sunny, with temperatures in the 60’s and 70s in the north and high 80s to 90s further south.
A slight risk for rain showers and thunderstorms exists for the central portion of the country, particularly along the mountainous regions, as afternoon thunderstorms could develop. In addition, a slight chance of showers will remain for the Northern Plains for North Dakota and Minnesota.
