Severe Storm Threat for Parts of the East Today

Isolated to elevated threat of severe storms this afternoon and evening across much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Mr. MORECAST has your details for what to expect.

A warm front will move northward and bring unstable air. A cold front to the west will move through the region later in the day. With some good upper level support, this will result in an elevated risk of severe storms. The storms will develop this afternoon and push eastward into the evening. Major cities affected include New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Norfolk, Virginia. The main hazards include:

  • Hail up to 1.5″
  • Wind gusts up to 65 mph
  • Isolated tornadoes
  • Localized flash flooding.
