Severe activity targeting Northern Rockies and Northern Plains

A variety of severe weather is likely across northern areas of the Rockies this evening, and over the northern Plains through the night.

Storms will start in Montana, with large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes all possible. The strongest activity should be limited to rural areas north of Great Falls. The atmosphere in the evening will favor the strongest storms becoming supercells, so stay alert to the weather if you live in this region.

As storms progress to the east through the evening and into the night hours, activity will become more widespread and organized in nature. Border areas of North Dakota, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba could see very strong wind gusts.

Storms should push all the way to Minnesota by sunrise, carrying a wind and hail threat all the way.
