Big hail for the Central Plains on Monday

A variety of severe weather coming up on Monday, with large hail, damaging wind and a few tornadoes possible. A developing system will eject into the High Plains on Monday, aligning conditions for potential damaging storms from Montana to Texas.

Large hail will be a threat across the board, with highest risk in much of Nebraska and parts of Colorado, Kansas and the Panhandle of Texas. In our forecasted “elevated” risk area, the strongest storms could even produce baseball sized hail. More large hail will be possible along the front range, though the coverage of storms should be more isolated.

As convection in the Plains kicks off in the afternoon, tornadoes will be a threat with the strongest storms.

Later in the day, convection will likely transition from single-cell to a large system. With that, the greatest threat will switch over to damaging wind.
