Prolonged High Wind Event for the Southwest & Intermountain West!

A vigorous upper low will be spinning slowly across the Intermountain West through this weekend, leading to high winds.  Gusts up to 55 mph will be common with some wind-prone areas seeing gusts as high as 65 mph, especially on Friday.The wind threat will ramp up on the leeward side of the Sierra Nevada Range later today into tonight.  By tonight into Friday, winds will spread across much of interior southern California, southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and Utah, including major cities like Las Vegas, Nevada and Salt Lake City, Utah.  Some of the areas typically prone to seeing enhanced southerly winds, for instance in central Utah along the I-15 corridor, will see gusts up to 65 mph on Friday.  By later Friday into Saturday, winds will mostly be confined to areas along and east of the Wasatch Range as well as in north-central Arizona, including Flagstaff.
