The southern Plains will see a round of severe storms today with large hail and isolated tornadoes being the main concern. Damaging winds are expected to become more of a threat as the storms transition into a more linear structure during the evening hours.
A low pressure system and the associated boundaries will initiate storms in the afternoon. The strongest storms will likely affect Oklahoma, far southern Kansas, and northern Texas with the main threats being large hail and isolated tornadoes. Thunderstorms will continue into the evening hours and will produce heavy rainfall totals across Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. Heavy rain producing thunderstorms are likely across southeastern Texas and western Louisiana where flash flooding is the main concern. When venturing outside, be on alert for flooded roadways and do not try and drive through them.
