An occluded low pressure system over the Dakotas will track to the east Wednesday pushing a cold front into the Plains. The associated cold front and shortwave will help contribute to the development of severe storms through the Central U.S and the mid-Atlantic area Wednesday.
Storms are expected to develop during the afternoon and will have the potential to drop large hail through the Plains including Kansas City, MO. Things will become more active during the evening especially through Oklahoma City as the low level jet amps up. Large hail (1.5″+ diameter) and the potential for strong damaging winds will be the main threat through the evening for the Plains while the mid-Atlantic will see isolated hail and strong winds.
