Scattered strong to locally severe storms will be possible across southern Florida as a cold front pushes southeastward.
Some residents of the sunshine state awoke to flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder this morning ahead of a cold front that continues on a southeasterly path across the state. Severe storms will be possible primarily south of I-4 (including the cities of Fort Myers and Miami) with the potential for damaging wind gusts and pea-sized hail. Heavy rain will also accompany the storms which could lead to isolated flash flooding in low lying or flood prone areas. The threat of severe storms will persist until the evening hours as the atmosphere becomes more stable.
