There are just a few days to go for the „Wings for Life World Run“. For the third time on May 8th, professional athletes and passionate runners meet at 34 different locations around the world to successfully finish running a race. So, this is a perfect time to see what the weather will bring for the runners all over the world.
The most challenging conditions will be in the Indian city of Ahmedabad. The temperatures will already be around 40°C (104°F) at the beginning of the race. Together with the calm and muggy conditions, the run will be a very sweaty and challenging event for all the competitors. The 26°C (79°F) in Hualien (Taiwan) will appear to be better conditions for the runners; however, the expected high humidity during the run will make it a challenge for everyone.
The runners taking part in Niagara Falls will experience the windiest and coolest conditions. In the morning hours the temperatures will be around 10 to 13°C (50-55°F). Together with light rain and gusty west winds, the runners will definitely long for the Catcher Cars to overtake them.
In the biggest parts of Europe, a high-pressure system will bring rather pleasant weather conditions to all participants of the event. However, in Posen (Poland) and Cambridge (Great Britain), the strong southeasterly wind might slow the runners down. Furthermore, in the western parts of the continent we will see an increasing chance for thundery showers during the day. Unsteady weather conditions are expected only for Porto (Portugal), where the highs of around 15°C (59°F) will be even cooler than the temperatures expected in the Norwegian city of Stavanger, which is much further North in the European continent. Nevertheless, these conditions will suit most of the runners best, to achieve the best results.
