There is a risk for strong to severe thunderstorms across North Carolina and parts of Virginia. Storms will develop this afternoon with the help of a system moving toward the southeast from the west.
Storms will start to develop around the area after 2 pm. The biggest threat will be strong wind gusts that have potential to exceed 60+ mph gusts. Small hail is also possible through North Carolina. The storms will continue through the evening as they propagate towards the coast. Storms will taper off late Thursday night leaving the Friday’s morning commute clear from severe weather.
