The sun may be shining this afternoon in the Texas Panhandle but the potential for severe storms is brewing. Storms will begin to fire Wednesday evening and will likely continue through the overnight as they march toward the southeast.
Storms should develop later Wednesday afternoon and strengthen into the early evening as they find more support. Strong winds and some hail seems to be the biggest threat with these storms as they develop into a line east of Lubbock. As the evening progresses into the overnight, storms will push further east and southeast but should begin to die off as sunrise approaches. The speed of the storms as well as how much instability holds in place will dictate how quickly the storms will fall apart and how far east they’ll push. As of now the DFW Metroplex should see storms close to daybreak but the most severe activity should stay further west, although an isolated wind gust can’t be ruled out.
