*** Breaking News *** High Winds to Affect Southwest Monday through Tuesday!

An approaching system will cause southwesterly winds to increase Monday morning from the high deserts of southern California up into southern Nevada, including Las Vegas. Gusts of 50-65 mph are expected through Monday night, locally higher on the mountain peaks. Winds will spread into northern Arizona later on Monday, and persist there through midday Tuesday.

The best chance for strong winds over a wide area will be in the afternoon and early evening hours on Monday. This is the projected time frame when flights would likely be delayed, for instance, at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Low visibilities due to blowing dust will also be at least a localized hazard for motorists on I-15 or I-40, and high-profile vehicles may be in danger of tipping.
