Strong Storms Affecting Super Tuesday Voting

Heavy thunderstorms pushing into the Southeast this Super Tuesday. With the southern states of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia voting today, will stormy weather affect voter turnout?

Line of storms bringing potentially strong winds and small hail to the Southeast and Ohio River Valley is currently pushing through Tennessee and Mississippi. Storms are currently positioned over Nashville at noon CT, and are quickly marching east. Notable polling cities should see storms arrive around the following times, so plan votes accordingly:

  • Huntsville, AL ~ noon – 2pm CT
  • Chattanooga, TN ~ 3pm-5pm ET
  • Knoxville, TN ~ 3pm-5pm ET
  • Birmingham, AL ~ 3pm-5pm CT
  • Atlanta, GA ~ 6pm-8pm ET

Storms should arrive in Virginia and southern Georgia after polls close.
Additionally heavy snow is currently falling in the Great Lakes region, though none of these states are taking to the polls today.
