Severe Storms Likely Across Deep South on Tuesday

Strong to severe storms will continue to build over parts of Louisiana and Mississippi, racing eastward through the evening across the Gulf Coast with tornadoes, high winds, and large hail possible.


A strong upper level storm system over the area will continue to develop strong thunderstorms along the coast into the interior Deep South. Tornadoes have already been spotted near New Orleans and Baton Rouge. With daytime heating this afternoon, tornadoes (potentially strong and long lived), hail, and winds will be likely in Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia will likely be seen through at least this evening. Storms will consolidate into a dangerous squall line through southern portions Alabama tonight bringing an increasing threat for damaging winds further east during the overnight hours.
